SOMEBODY@MASCHINENHAUS 26 // MIND THE GAP / Company Flying Elephant

In the organizer's words:

MIND THE GAP / Company Flying Elephant / ages 13 and up

The performance delves into the complex reality of queer relationships and shows the gap between the private and the public.

Two performers negotiate the tensions of their relationship, the gap between self-perception and public judgment.
MIND THE GAP invites the audience to experience the emotional and physical dynamics of a partnership up close through captivating choreography and physical closeness. The duo opens up a space for reflection on equality, intimacy and the challenges that characterize every relationship. The piece was developed on the basis of interviews with members of the queer community. The performance is dedicated to the negotiation of these collective experiences. Beyond the queer perspective, MIND THE GAP fundamentally questions forms of personal lack of freedom. It is about reflecting on where we constrict ourselves and others in norms and expectations - regardless of gender or orientation.
