Delicious treats, festive atmosphere, magical moments of light. These days, Düsseldorf's Old Town is once again aglow with the glow of Christmas, right down to the last alleyway. The scent of mulled wine and a touch of nostalgia - what is behind all the Christmas traditions that are loved and practiced in Düsseldorf?

Together, we embark on a slow-paced search for the stories that surround Christmas - and it's not just in Düsseldorf's Old Town with its historic architecture that you can trace them. On Königsallee, the Dome of Lights with its 3,500 lights creates an enchanting scenario.

How did the Christ Child come to play such an important role? When did the tradition of Christmas markets begin in Düsseldorf? And what did Joseph Beuys have in mind with angels? Our guide provides you with facts and myths about the festivities and the run-up to Christmas - from the production of gingerbread to the cultural history of the Christmas tree.

We end the tour with a fragrant mulled wine or cocoa and delicious Christmas cookies.
