Children are among the most vulnerable road users. In this panel discussion, experts from practice, research and municipal mobility management will talk about key aspects of road safety and street design for children. Practical and innovative projects will be presented that contribute to making children's sustainable mobility behavior safer and incorporating their perspectives into road design. The focus is on approaches to promote independence, to train hazard perception and technical solutions to improve traffic infrastructure. Projects such as "Fit for school, fit for the future!" (MOR) and "Aufgepasst mit ADACUS" (ADAC Foundation) show how different and effective prevention and mobility education can be. The "SensorKids" project (DLR) also illustrates how children are actively involved in traffic and mobility planning - in particular through participatory and digital methods for recording children's perspectives on road space. The panelists will also provide specific recommendations for action for parents, local authorities and educational institutions.
