SENDER EMPFÄNGER is the solo album by Michael Kröger a.k.a möbelkröger (Goya Royal, Phil Vetter Band, The Ruby Sea, Butterside Down), which was recorded entirely by himself except for the backing vocals in "Receiver" (Alicia Wolff). The
album was released in February 2025 by Intertune Records.
A S S E C O N D I T I O N S
This album is electric. Most of the sounds were created with electric guitar, much of it alienated, deconstructed and reassembled, played backwards or in freeze mode. A keyboard is used sparingly, drum patterns and drum machines, but also an espresso machine in descaling mode
with 167 bpm. Acoustic instruments have been deliberately omitted.
This album is eclectic. möbelkröger taps into inspirations, appropriates them and makes them his own. For example, the "saddest chord of all time", which Tom Bukovac introduced in his fantastic guitar tutorials, is the basis for "Kalt
and clear and bright". And the chords of "Rudderless" by the Lemonheads stood for "Illusion".
This album is eloquent, even if the vocals only outline the scenes in short, condensed lyrics. Because it is up to the instruments to tell the actual stories with all their highs and lows, so
so captivating that ultimately the vocals, as another instrument, are also immersed in such polyphony. Kröger tells stories with sounds, which in turn draw music from music and combine it into new worlds of sound. In this way, Michael Kröger howls at the moon and prays to the sun at the same time, and his singing appears
his singing only appears in passing in the song in order to put into words at least a small part of what his music knows how to tell of with an almost speechless beauty. And this is precisely the consolation that the musician Kröger offers the
often accusing poet Kröger, so that his music ultimately also signals departure and arrival at the same time.
And this album is finite, ending quite suddenly. Do you know that feeling after listening to an album that everything has actually been said, while the question of how the story that has actually been told will end remains unanswered? Cones of light
probe the scenery, running through the soundscape as persistent tones, while Kröger is only too happy to tell the stories beyond the lights, as in an auditory film noir.
