MOLA TECTA from Bremen and Frankfurt play a mixture of post-emo and indie rock. Their dynamic set is characterized by varied song structures and a guitar that sometimes saws and screeches and sometimes feels sunny and warm. The whole thing is rounded off by three-part vocals, present groovy basslines and dynamic drumming. The anger of adolescence has largely disappeared from their English-language lyrics, but the melancholy remains, peppered here and there with a little nostalgia. What you can definitely feel with mola tecta is the love for exactly this kind of music and the joy of playing together.

Reviewers were reminded of bands like Jawbreaker, Fugazi or The Hotelier. Parts of the band used to play in (emo) bands such as manku kapak, mira or 勢い. The self-titled first EP was released in early 2025 on their own label mum says; be polite records, and the 5 songs recorded in DIY style are available in both tape and CD versions in an elaborately hand-printed cyanotype gatefold cover with a 20-page booklet.

In terms of content, irrelevant pop culture references meet themes about going home with some caustic men breathing down your neck ("Walking home alone"), with which the junkers know how to cover a lot of ground.
