Momo lives in the ruins of the old amphitheater on the outskirts of the city. Nobody knows where she comes from, but the inhabitants of the town quickly take her to their hearts. Because Momo has a superpower: she can listen. This alone enables her to comfort people, settle disputes and make her friends, the tourist guide Gigi and the street sweeper Beppo, feel that they have a place in the world.
But suddenly people stop visiting Momo and mysterious gray gentlemen from the "Time Savings Fund" appear all over the city. Times are changing. And although all the adults are now saving time wherever they can, they seem to have less and less of it. When Momo finally discovers the dark secret of the gray masters, she decides to return the stolen time to the people. She gets help from the tortoise Cassiopeia and the guardian of time, Master Hora.
"There is a great and yet everyday secret. Everyone shares in it, everyone knows it, but very few people think about it. This secret is time," writes Michael Ende in his fairytale novel "Momo". Director Christina Rast stages this fantastic story about storytelling, friendship and courage as a family play for everyone aged 8 and over.
