While traveling on the Orient Express from Istanbul to Calais, an American businessman falls victim to a murder that is as brutal as it is mysterious. By chance, the Belgian master detective Hercule Poirot is among the passengers. He suspects that the perpetrator is still on board the train - and takes up the investigation. While the luxury express gets stuck in the snow, events unfold in the carriages.

Agatha Christie's famous detective story from 1934 has been officially adapted for the stage for the first time. The fact that the American playwright Ken Ludwig (*1950, "Othello darf nicht platzen") was commissioned to adapt the story proves to be a stroke of luck: he skillfully condenses the plot in terms of personnel and dramaturgy, carefully accentuating and updating the comic potential of the crime story.
