ZEN TAURUS & MOUTH
Who said you can't dance to Prog?
It's going to be a party: Mouth, one of the best German prog rock bands, is coming back to the Pelmke after a long time. The Cologne-based trio played here for the first time in November 2003 - six albums and eventful years later, Mouth still impress with their energetic mix of psychedelic, prog and krautrock. Mouth pack the 70s into their very own sound cosmos: it grooves, it's hypnotic, and a song can last 20 minutes. In 2024, WDR Rockpalast recorded the band, which currently consists of bassist Thomas Johnen alongside singer Chris Koller and Hagen-born Nick Mavridis on drums.
Mouth has a long-standing friendship not only with the Pelmke, but also with the musicians of the Hagen band Zen Taurus. Emerging from bands such as Judy's Mad Day, Santangelo and the Brainsuckers, Zen Taurus serve up avant-garde indie rock - somewhere between Jane's Addiction, prog and stoner. Lots of groove, lots of spheres, always revolving around singer INOTS' hypnotic melodies and German lyrics, served to the point by guitarist Christian Sträter, bassist Sebo Olbrich and drummer Christopher Heimer. Last year saw the release of their latest single "Verwandlung", for which the band also released an emotional video as a contribution to the #stopmobbing campaign (directed by Faton Cakaj).
The evening in the Pelmke will therefore not only be a musical highlight, but also a small family reunion, the proceeds of which will benefit the Pelmke. So not coming is not an option at all, you can buy tickets conveniently online.
