In the organizer's words:

Some movements stay. Not only in the mind but also in the body. The works in muscle memory tie in with these physical memories and combine them with materials that hover between tension and flexibility.

Taut violin bows meet loose strands of hair. Tapered forms stand next to soft, almost yielding structures. The works create a fragile balance of vulnerability and danger. Wax emerges as a material: malleable, changeable and at the same time fragile.

Many of the objects seem to come from the world of work or training: Things that demand strength, require control, offer resistance. The mechanical rigor of these forms is repeatedly undermined - by organic elements, physical grace or the traces of a touch.

Repeated gestures leave traces, not only in the material, but also in the body that performs them. These movements become something of their own, automated and yet imbued with memory. The materials seem to challenge each other without gaining a clear predominance. Like a fragile interplay of forces that manifests itself in small shifts and tensions.

The works appear like a condensation of sensations and thus enter into an exchange with the viewer. Tension is imprinted on us, discipline shapes the body and the body searches for ways to escape. Short fragments of a choreography are created in which each element is in tension with its counterpart.

Since its foundation in 2007, Baustelle Schaustelle e.V. has dedicated itself to promoting young artists from the region and has established itself as a space for young art with a total of around 100 exhibitions. With the self-image of a non-profit association, the project space focuses on the needs of young and contemporary art production, offers a platform to try out works in the space and invites people to experiment.
