EYDIS EVENSEN

Eydís Evensen is one of Iceland's most remarkable musical exports - a composer and pianist whocaptivates audiences worldwide with herprofound soundscapes. Classically trained but guided by instinct and feeling, Evensen creates music that transcends all genre boundaries: flowing between modern classical, ambient minimalism, cinematic composition and quiet introspection.

Growing up in the windswept northern Icelandic town of Blönduós, where the harsh landscape shapes every aspect of life, Evensen began composing at the age of seven, inspired by a snowstorm whipping against the windows of her childhood home. This experience set the tone for everything that followed: Beauty wrapped in fragility, movement arising from stillness, and a deep emotional connection with nature. Evensenis characterized by an honesty that is becoming increasingly rare: She writes from experience, from memories, from pain and joy in equal measure, without glossing over or disguising these feelings. Every piece tells a story, and every performance is a new interpretation. Live, her concerts are breathtakingly beautiful, immersive, intimate and atmospheric - an experience that envelops the room in silence.

NEST - The PIANEO - FESTIVAL FOR NEOKLASSIK series aims to create a temporary safe space for quiet sounds and particularly intimate concerts in the auditorium of the LWL Museum of Art and Culture. With a deliberately reduced set-up, NEST concerts aim to create a fragile live experience. A grand piano stands in the middle of the room, surrounded by a few warm light sources. The audience makes themselves comfortable around the artists (on the floor and on existing chairs at the edge) with blankets, cushions and pads they have brought with them. Drinks and snacks can also be brought along (no sale on site), so that the nest can warm up with some socializing.
