With the exhibition Next of Kin!, the Künstler*innenhaus Dortmund focuses on positions from its extended environment: the KiNs - artists in the network. On display are works by companions who have supported, shaped and helped shape the house over many years, but whose works have rarely been shown together.

Next of Kin! sees itself less as a retrospective and more as a deliberate positioning in the present. The exhibition makes visible the quality, diversity and independence anchored in the Künstler*innenhaus network. Different media, working methods and attitudes enter into an open dialog and paint a vivid picture of a local scene that is driven by exchange, commitment and mutual support.

With Next of Kin!, the Künstler*innenhaus opens up a space for those positions that contribute significantly to the identity of the house beyond formal memberships. Here, community does not appear as a background, but as active potential - as something that is constantly created anew through collaboration, proximity and shared practice.
