Christmas, the epitome of a contemplative celebration with the family, has become a way of life for Aunt Milla. After the Second World War prevented her from celebrating the holiday in detail for a number of years, her love of Christmas increases monstrously after the end of the war, culminating in the angels still singing in August and the family coming over every evening to celebrate Christmas Eve.

In Nicht nur zur Weihnachtszeit (1952), Heinrich Böll takes a satirical look at the German post-war mentality and the irrefutable Christmas routine. Packed into a humorous narrative, he subtly criticizes the lack of reappraisal in the early post-war years.
Actor Dietmar Bär plays the witty narrator, while classical percussionist and sound artist Stefan Weinzierl plays typical and atypical Christmas melodies with unusual instruments.
