Noche Boliviana

Noche Boliviana invites you to get to know the country in the Andes of South America with a mix of culture and information.

The dance group "Sonrisa Boliviana" invites you on a journey through the diverse culture of Bolivia. Sonrisa Boliviana impresses with colorful traditional costumes and presents the most diverse rhythms from the different regions of the country.

In his presentation, Markus Zander (Misereor Germany) will give a brief overview of the country and the disastrous consequences of resource extraction.

Bolivia is deep in a political, ecological and economic crisis. The main cause of this is the country's continuing structural dependence on the exploitation of raw materials and their export, which did not change even during the years of the economic boom from 2006 to 2016. The desperate search for sources of income without regard for the environment and human rights in the face of looming state bankruptcy now threatens to exacerbate the situation. Misereor's partner organization CEPA from Oruro in the Bolivian highlands works closely with the indigenous and smallholder population of the region and their organizations. It supports them in their efforts to defend themselves against the further spread of mining activities and to bring the enormous contamination caused by them and tolerated by the state under control in order to preserve their livelihoods.
