Nona Siepmann // Negotiating Power

In the organizer's words:

This evening is a physical rebellion. Raw, powerful and vibrant. In NEGOTIATING POWER, dancer and choreographer Nona Siepmann - also a protagonist in works by bodytalk - combines contemporary dance and Krump: a hard style that emerged in L.A. in the early 2000s. Added to this is a visually powerful poetry without any sounds. The piece also relies on visual vernacular: An art form that initially developed from the visual parts of sign language. What emerges from these various influences is a reflection on power relations. The performance does not accuse. But it confronts social inequalities and discrimination. NEGOTIATING POWER asks how we reproduce problematic attributions. Consciously or unconsciously.
