Nora Chipaumire's live installation DAMBUDZO breaks down the boundaries of art forms and confronts the colonial legacy in the West Gallery of Haus der Kunst. The artist (born 1965, Mutare, Zimbabwe), who has worked in Berlin, New York and Harare, combines sound, painting, sculpture and performance. Inspired by the Shona word "dambudzo" (restlessness) and thinkers such as Dambudzo Marechera, she explores contradictions between knowledge and language. In a Zimbabwean Shabini bar, she tests movement as a universal language of resistance. Presented by SPIELART Festival Munich in cooperation with Haus der Kunst.
