THE FILM:
Murnau's interpretation of the classic Dracula story is a journey into the realm of the unreal. Bridges are crossed, gates are passed - crossing borders beyond which vampire forces are at work. The vampiric influence spreads more and more until it takes over the entire cinematic space. Nosferatu may be banished, but the power that drives him never is. Because: it is the power of cinema itself.

THE MUSIC:
The composition by the duo Interzone Perceptible bears the strange title Histoplasmosis. It describes a fungus that thrives in bat droppings and was the cause of the death of the archaeologists who opened the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. The bat as a central motif of vampire mythology carries the spores of histoplasmosis into the film music, so that they infest the audience from within.
A sound journey for electrified accordion, bowed electric bass, live electronics, small gong, (screaming) voice, one-man women's choir, feeds, electrified roof batten, microphoned polystyrene, cake fork on glass pane, singing wine glasses, children's glockenspiel, loop sampler.

The duo has been active and well-known throughout the Ruhr region and beyond since 2000 with their program "Stummfilm live in concert". In addition to "Nosferatu", silent film classics such as "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", "Backstairs" and "Orlac's Hands" are part of their repertoire. They have been permanent guests at Bochum's Rottstr 5 Theater since 2012.
