Director: Park Chan-wook | South Korea 2003 | 120 min | 35mm | original version with German subtitles | with Choi Min-sik, Yoo Ji-tae, Kang Hye-jung
Oh Dae-su, who lived with his wife and young daughter, is abducted while drunk on his way home. He is locked in a room for 15 years - with no windows, no explanation and no contact with other people. All he has is a television, Chinese dumplings and an ever-increasing thirst for revenge. When he is suddenly released, Oh Dae-su searches every Chinese restaurant to find the person who locked him up. But what awaits him is not freedom, but a cruel truth that mixes revenge, guilt and love. Who did this to him? And more importantly, why? The answer is deeply personal and destructive. Oldboy is the second part of Park Chan-wook's revenge trilogy - a work that combines his opulent style with a dark, poetic atmosphere. Once considered shocking and daring, this film is now regarded as one of the defining works of cinema in the 2000s.

Supporting film 1: Self-realization
Director: Elmar Farchmin | Germany 2008 | 2 min | SD Video | German original version
A person talks to himself, to the self, three times. I, yes, I, no, I myself, I, yes, self, no, I yes, no, I, self, yes, no, yes, we, yes, we, no, self, we.... Pure meditation! In Prof. Stephan Krass' poetry film seminar in 2008, Elmar Farchmin's funny film adaptation of Peter Straßberger's poem was created along with many other films of this genre. The name Elmar Farchmin sounds very funny and his movie is in no way inferior. Hats off, one of our favorites of the poetry catalog!

Supporting film 2: Translation
Director: Valentin Pfister | Germany 2016 | 2 min | HD Video | English original version
A person experiences changes in their environment that become part of an alternate reality. The descriptive text is short and crisp, just like the video. As always in the poetry film category, this film is also based on a poem: "Translation" by Conor O'Callaghan. Secondly, the film is based on the fact that Valentin Pfister can make cool videos and two of his friends (Grischa Erbe, Lukas Hager) can make no less cool music. Together they make what we think is a very cool poetry film or video.
