A day without women
Iceland 2024 - Director: Pamela Hogan - OmU - 70 min.
The documentary recalls the story of a women's strike that paralyzed Iceland for a day in 1975 because 90 percent of all Icelandic women took part. The aim was to achieve equal rights for men and women. The story of the strike, which ended with a huge women's rally in Reykjavík, is told with humor and playful ease. The action was also successful in the long term; Iceland has ranked first in the world in terms of gender parity for many years.
