Orgelkonzert mit Gereon Krahforst, Maria Laach

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 8 p.m., the Kreuzkirche Dresden invites you to an extraordinary organ concert. Experience an evening of late German Romanticism and musical rarities with the outstanding organist Gereon Krahforst, the abbey organist of Maria Laach.

Krahforst, known for his varied programming and unconventional registrations, presents a program that is both a personal musical tribute to his homeland, the Rhineland and the Eifel, and a treasure hunt for long-forgotten but worthwhile composers.

At the center is the completely unknown, large organ sonata in B flat major by Willy Poschadel (1884 - 1945), who was organist at the Kreuzkirche in Bonn from the end of the First to the end of the Second World War. The complex opening movement uses contrapuntal structures and the chorale "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" - whose lines seem like a distant, ethereal echo - in a highly varied sonata form.
