Origina1Nerd - originelle Musik in einem „nerdigen“ Jazz Format

Origina1Nerd - a band name that makes you wonder at first - why the "1" in the name? The origin comes from the stylistic devices that were often used in computer forums to name an account. This is exactly where the original nerds can be found. In the Origina1Nerd forum, five young musicians have come together to both compose and present original music in a "nerdy" jazz format.

The result of this process can be found on the band's second album "System Overload" - a mixture of harmonic concepts and improvisation of jazz, compositional and rhythmic elements of progressive rock, emulsified with the help of a wide range of electronic music sounds. In order to develop this genre mix into a functioning and sophisticated sound concept, in which elements such as odd meters, sequencing, metric modulation, etc. form the basic building blocks of the compositions, a lot of time and effort was invested. The band had to tinker with the delicate balance between complex rhythms and harmonies - with success. Although the notation of many pieces resembles mathematical equations, Origina1Nerd succeeds in finding a highly musical solution for each composition. This was also recognized by the jury of Ton Art Tirol, who awarded the band and its musical director Max Glanz the Tyrolean Youth Jazz Prize 2022.

After Origina1Nerd's debut album "Unknown Error" from 2022, the follow-up album "System Overload" will be released in November 2024, in which the existing compositional concept was refined and more space was given to electric effects in addition to the usual acoustic elements.

The third studio album will follow in 2026.
