About Bavarian motherly love
Oskar Maria Graf'smasterpiece "The Life of My Mother" is not just a lovingly haunting portrait of his mother, but actually the story of all our Bavarian mothers and grandmothers. Resl Heimrath spent her life in the countryside on Lake Starnberg and was a contemporary witness to Ludwig II, the Industrial Revolution, the First World War and Hitler's rise to power. The actress Angela Ascher, known from film and television, is passionate about bringing this story closer to the audience.
Experience the chronicle of village life as an atmospheric interplay of Angela Ascher's reading and the musical performance of pianist Maharani Chakrabarti on the grand piano. You will hear works from the period by composers such as Bruckner, Mahler and Wagner. You will also hear the world premiere of piano pieces by Dorothea Hoffmann, which she composed inspired by reading Graf's novel.
A fresh, contemporary concert format that delights audiences and press alike: pianist Maharani Chakrabarti curates and hosts exciting themed evenings featuring top-class guest artists. Udo Wachtveitl, Jutta Speidel and Julian Nida-Rümelin, among others, have already been part of the salon, as have first-class musicians. Music, literature, history and philosophy come together with cross-genre themes. The audience can enjoy the performances over a drink in the magnificent ambience of the Silbersaal.
