Nobody embodies Astor Piazzolla's authentic style today like the Grammy award-winning Argentinian pianist Pablo Ziegler. Complex rhythmic twists and turns flow from his fingers with dancing elegance. He combines angular, dissonant motifs, throws lyrical themes at the guitarist and takes up the singing melancholy of the bandoneon - sometimes countering it with cascading sounds, sometimes with sparkling runs. Pablo Ziegler combines the drama of the tango with seemingly playful elements of jazz. Sometimes the timbres shine like those of Debussy or Ravel. (Albert Schmaltz) The pianist Pablo Ziegler is regarded as the most important composer and arranger of nuevo tango since Astor Piazzolla. Piazzolla opened the door - Ziegler stepped through it and is now exploring unexplored paths in the garden of tango. As a former pianist in the legendary Argentinian bandoneon virtuoso's ensemble, Ziegler is very familiar with Piazzolla's compositions and shares his love of modern jazz sounds. But Ziegler doesn't just stick to Piazzolla's formal musical structures - he also juggles with them, abstracts them and adds his own voice. In his trio, Ziegler is supported by two extraordinary musicians who lend his musical world a unique richness of sound. The Argentinian guitarist Quique Sinesi, with whom he has worked since the 1990s, is widely known for his melodic sensitivity and expressive depth. Together they have won a Latin Grammy and performed in major concert halls and festivals worldwide. The trio is completed by Belgian bandoneonist Manu Comte, who brings a unique combination of virtuosity and emotional depth to the group. With a background that includes classical and nuevo tango, his refined technique and musicality provide a powerful counterpart to Ziegler's piano. Their collaboration began with the Royal Philharmonie de Liège and has developed into an internationally recognized partnership. This ensemble embodies the sophistication and emotional power of nuevo tango in an intimate chamber music format with a repertoire that includes Ziegler's signature works (La Rayuela, Milongueta) as well as reinterpretations of Piazzolla's classics - all infused with jazz-inspired freedom and interplay.
Pablo Ziegler is the last living member of the legendary Astor Piazzolla Quintet and was chosen by Piazzolla for this extraordinary quintet because of his affinity with jazz, but also because of his classical training.
Quique Sinesi, a long-time partner on the guitar and himself a renowned composer for classical guitar, complements Pablo Ziegler with his own style, total immersion in the music, virtuoso playing and ability to improvise. In addition to Pablo Ziegler, he works with Michel Godard, Enrico Rava, Charlie Mariano, Dino Saluzzi and tours worldwide. Manu Comte from Belgium is new to the trio, but is already an accomplished bandoneonist who ideally complements the two. After many years, the trio is finally back on tour in Europe!
