Panzerballett, founded by guitarist and composer Jan Zehrfeld, has stood for an uncompromising fusion of jazz, metal and avant-garde for over two decades. Originating from Munich and now with an international line-up, the band combines technical precision, polyrhythmic complexity and subtle humor to create music that challenges both mind and body. Panzerballett is internationally regarded as a pioneer of so-called "jazz metal".

Jan Zehrfeld studied jazz guitar and composition at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and now teaches at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. As a bandleader and composer, he has worked with artists such as Randy Brecker, Mike Keneally, Mattias IA Eklundh and Virgil Donati. His music combines structural sophistication with energy, wit and an unshakeable joy of playing.

Rafael Trujillo, (Obsidious, Daath, ex-Obscura) brings a metallic edge and harmonic depth to Panzerballett's sound with his exceptional technique and sense of sonic aesthetics. In addition to his live/studio work, Trujillo is a formative figure in the modern guitarist scene on social media, where he regularly talks about technique, sound design and artistic development and reaches a large international audience with his open, reflective manner.

Florian Fennes, Austrian saxophonist and clarinettist, moves confidently between jazz, contemporary music and avant-garde. He is a member of the Black Page Orchestra and the PHOEN ensemble and, with his expressive tone and joy in experimenting with sound, forms an organic counterpoint to the band's precise guitar structures.

Anton Davidyants, born in Moscow, is one of Europe's leading fusion bassists. He has worked with Virgil Donati, Marco Sfogli, Tom Quayle and Guthrie Govan and released his solo album Avalanche in 2023. His playing combines technical brilliance with an effortless, deeply rooted groove.

Aaron Thier, drummer from Austria, is known for his versatility and explosive stage energy. After years with the EAV and numerous international workshops and drum festivals, he was presented by the US drum channel in 2023. His blend of precision, power and musicality makes him an ideal engine in the complex rhythmic structure of Panzerballett.

Together, these five musicians form a collective in which virtuosity, intellect and humor come together. Panzerballett thus remains unique in the European music landscape - uncompromising, playful and unmistakable.
