Pär Hagström & The Charlatans of Love - Support: tba

In the organizer's words:

Pär Hagström has always been on the fringes of music - from the first awkward chords on his family's pump organ in Huskvarna to the death metal of the 90s and the hard rock of the 70s to the innermost core of gospel. It is a journey that is shaped as much by philosophy, literature and theater as it is by rock clubs and church halls, and ultimately leads to a universe of its own in which drama and soulful sermons merge.

In the 2000s, he toured extensively with projects such as the orchestra Cirkus Transmopol and the art-rock duo Next Stop: Horizon, often together with his long-time collaborator Jenny Roos. At the same time, he built up a career as a composer for film and theater - including for major institutions in Germany and for the San Francisco Ballet. In his home town of Gothenburg, he runs Skeppet GBG, a center for music, stage and food culture, where many of his projects have also taken shape.

As a frontman, Hagström is as much a preacher as a singer. His voice has a natural theatrical power - rough and silky at the same time - with an instinctive willingness to let the music grate, sweat and hypnotize. Inspired by Tom Waits, Led Zeppelin, Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama, he and his band Charlatans of Love have created a new musical entity in recent years, fusing gospel, soul, psychedelic rock and funk into something as seductive as it is uncompromising.

DREAMERS BELIEVERS ILLUSIONISTS PREACHERS is the sequel to the mini-album The End Again (2024) and picks up where the story left off. Here, memories, visions of the future and recycled sounds intertwine to create a warm, distorted and narrative soundscape - recorded live in Skeppet GBG's studio in the old Seamen's Church in Gothenburg. The result is a psychedelic mass for lost souls, in which Reverend Jack returns to gather his flock and lead them through a mythical universe of sound.
