Party, Party!

In the organizer's words:

Are we having a party now or are we encouraging academic discourse? Both! The group exhibition "Party, Party!", by students of HBKSaar, invites you to an artistic examination of contemporary party culture. Eight students present works that simultaneously glorify, criticize and artistically highlight partying. The focus is on themes such as consumption, ecstasy, club spaces and free love. Somewhere between subculture and the staging of the public self, between safe space and TikTok rave, the works reflect the artists' perception of today's party culture. As contemporary witnesses, they take up the transformation of parties, especially after the coronavirus pandemic, and examine how excess and celebration fit into the context of the current political situation and a time of constant overavailability.

Is partying an expression of emancipation and community building? The necessary relaxation in a meritocracy? Or just mindless escapism?
