Performative reading with real-time sculpture for International Women's Day

On Sunday, March 08, 2026 at 7:30 pm

On the occasion of International Women's Day 2026, the initiative "Courage of Women" invites you to an extraordinary performative reading in the vaulted hall of the Mohr-Villa cultural center. Under the title "wegen ihr. Courage!", the evening will focus for the first time on women who have decisively shaped, changed or saved the lives of men.

For over ten years, the initiative has been making almost unknown female biographies visible - life stories of women whose strength, determination and perseverance often had an impact far beyond the scope of their everyday lives. The 2026 reading focuses on fragmentary reports: narrative approaches full of admiration for women who have achieved great things in secret.

The evening focuses on exemplary female figures: an unknown savior from the last days of the Second World War, a theater patriarch and empowerment icon, a determined farmer's wife as a companion of artistic greatness, a historical ruler in her metamorphosis into an "apostle-like saint" and the portrait of a Munich couple who have dedicated themselves to researching forgotten actresses of the Nazi era for years.

Sculptor Minu Ghedina sets a special accent with a real-time sculpture: during the performance, the physical figure of the "unknown savior" is created from clay - visible, tangible and directly in the moment of the event.

"Because of her. Courage!" is a three-dimensional reading in which words, music and movement combine to create an open, sensual narrative form and courage is not only told, but made tangible.
