The quiet disappearance

It is not a dramatic act that has an immediate effect, but a silent process. Peter Kalk's drawings, paintings and sculptures are dedicated to that which gradually disappears. They are dedicated to transitions, losses and silent changes that are barely noticed but nevertheless leave their mark.

In his works, the representational dissolves and becomes surreal and abstract forms. Layering and blurring condense into fragile structures in which nothing finally disappears, but merely changes its visible form.

Kalk's works are an invitation to slow contemplation, to take a closer look and to be open to new meaning.
