Pflaumensturz & Sahneschnitten - Comiclesung mit Ralf König

In the organizer's words:

Kulturnetz e.V. is especially pleased to present a comic reading with Ralf König as part of the Gay Desire exhibition. S&M bears, vinyl and leather, gay sex in the park! These are themes that are an integral part of Ralf König's work. His comics tell the most violent and raunchy stories and deal with tender, radical vulnerability! It is these themes, the closeness of the figures and their radical vulnerability and openness, that link Ralf König's work to the exhibition and also expand it independently.

As a gallery dedicated to the promotion of comic culture, among other things, it is only natural for us to organize this reading. Ralf König is bringing his book PFLAUMENSTURZ UND SAHNESCHNITTEN, published in August, to Bremen. We are celebrating his 65th birthday and 45 years of Schwulcomix with more than 100 pages of comics. (Self-)irony and exaggeration are characteristic tools that Ralf König uses to tell his stories in a pointed way, to address the underlying social problems and to engage the inclined readers for his characters and their problems. Ralf König will present both new and old stories from 45 years of comic creation. Many of his popular characters have been invited to the party: Konrad and Paul, of course, but also Spargel and Berthold and the Pfundskerle.

About the exhibition:

In the exhibition Gay Desire, raum40 presents Karan Vohra's poetic linocuts and Gianni Gianorso Rauso's intimate photographs, taking an intimate and tender look at questions of gay desire. Both work on answers between self-lost ecstasy and frenzy and a romantic desire that cannot be reduced to a purely physical level. They show that desire can find fulfillment beyond standard-beautiful bodies. Between forest light and body hair, they negotiate gay desire beyond standardized body images: tender, radical, vulnerable. The exhibition not only celebrates queer desire, but also memory, shame and self-empowerment as political acts.

Supported by the Senator for Culture, the Ortamt Mitte/ Beirat Mitte / Östliche Vorstadt and the Karin and Uwe Hollweg Foundation.

Our thanks also go to the CSD Bremen and its organizing team.
