"The night musics consist of quintets, sextets, wind instruments [...] It is precisely in these nocturnal musics that the generality and greatness of the love of music is clearly evident", according to the Vienna Theater Almanac of 1754. The popularity of serenade concerts in 18th century Austria was enormous. Flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon - this is a serenade instrumentation in chamber music format, harmony music en miniature. Important composers have written for wind quintet, in our PHILHARMONIE EN DÉTAIL program we present charmingly coordinated works not only from the 18th century. And the harp, as a delicate counterpart in terms of sound, can also show that it is adept at baroque and classical music and yet is also highly suitable for tango, for example.
