Pippo Pollina first appeared on stage as a singer-songwriter in 1987 - in a small theater near Bern. Forty years later, the Sicilian musician can look back on an extraordinary career: 25 albums, over 200 published songs, around 5,000 concerts in around 20 countries on three continents.

Pollina's music knows no borders. His cosmopolitan attitude has led him to renowned collaborations with songwriters from the most diverse European linguistic areas such as Konstantin Wecker, Georges Moustaki, Schmidbauer & Kälberer, Paolo Conte, Franco Battiato, Inti Illimani and Rebekka Bakken. He has also worked with major symphony orchestras - including the London Session Orchestra, the Ukraine Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Toscanini and the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra - as well as with jazz, rock and world music musicians such as Charlie Mariano and Agricantus. For all her stylistic diversity, one thing has always remained central to Pollina: the song as her artistic core.

After four decades of intensive stage work and before a long creative break, Pippo Pollina is now presenting a solo program. From his rich repertoire, a concert is created that combines timeless classics with new songs - supplemented by rarely performed pieces and indispensable hits.

While he alternates between playing the piano and the guitar, unpublished photos and videos are projected, impressively showing his extraordinary story: from Palermo in the 1980s, marked by the fight against the Mafia and a social crisis, to his travels with guitar and sleeping bag, to international tours and early companions such as Linard Bardill and Konstantin Wecker.

Pure Pippo Pollina: no effects, no frills. Just his narrative voice and his unmistakable singing, which has gained depth, maturity and expressiveness over the years.

In the second part of the concert, Pippo Pollina will be accompanied by the musician Elisa Sandrini. Already appreciated by audiences during the Sicilian singer-songwriter's last tour, the singer, pianist and accordionist enriches Pollina's songs with her harmonious voice.
