Planet of the Vampires

Science fiction scrutinized" is the motto for an exciting and educational film evening, hosted by the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin and the Munich Observatory. We will be showing Mario Bava's science fiction classic PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES (1965), which created the blueprint for alien horror that was to shape cinema for decades to come. After the screening, we discuss with scientific experts whether the content of the film is more "science" or "fiction".

About the movie: A mysterious distress signal is sent from the planet Aura. Captain Mark Markary (Barry Sullivan) from the spaceship Argos tries to get to the bottom of it. After landing on the planet, the crew comes across a seemingly abandoned ship. However, it is inhabited by a sinister creature from an alien world that is up to no good.
