Plattsounds 2025 FINALE

Bands from all over Lower Saxony wanted

"Et geiht wiär löss!" Bruni from the Low German band "Wippsteert" is delighted about the start of this year's Low German band contest Plattsounds. The closing date for entries is September 30th and this year's organizer, Landschaftsverband Osnabrücker Land e. V. (LVO), invites you to the final on November 15th in the Lagerhalle in Osnabrück.

Young bands and individual performers from all over Lower Saxony can take part in Plattsounds. They can apply by September 30 with a song they have written themselves and have the chance to be chosen as the winner by the jury in the final and take home prize money and trophies for the best Low German song of the year 2025. Prize money of 1000, 600 and 300 euros has been announced for the first three places. The additional audience prize is endowed with 300 euros. The 1st place also qualifies for participation in "Rock in the Region".

What other requirements should the participating bands fulfill? They must be between 15 and 30 years old, but not necessarily speak Low German. For the Osnabrück region, Bruni (Marcus Bruns) is available to help young musicians as a translator. The Plattsounds organizers are also happy to help with translation and pronunciation. So it's open season for young talents who want to experiment with Low German and try out the language! Incidentally, as Plattsounds has proven right from the start, it can be integrated rhythmically. So don't worry - if you can't speak Platt, we'll help you!

"Some bands have so much fun that they take part several times," says Susanne Tauss, Managing Director of the LVO. And this time the venue is the warehouse - a "home game" for the local and regional music scene, says Tauss.

Incidentally, the Plattsounds band contest is a cooperative project between nine landscapes and regional associations in Lower Saxony. It arose from the "Platt is cool" image campaign, in which new materials in Low German such as postcards, educational boxes and posters are developed and distributed free of charge every year. Like Platt is cool, Plattsounds is supported by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture.
