Poetry Slam Emmendingen

Time for word art

For the first time, a poetry slam will take place at the Emmendingen Youth Center on 8 November 2025. A poetry slam is an entertaining and varied experience. The evening will be hosted by Ansgar Hufnagel. The Freiburg-based presenter and artist is himself a comedian and cabaret artist.

A poetry slam evening takes you into the land of wild words and brings to light very different content. The performers only present texts they have written themselves. These can be lyrical, political, personal, emotional or simply absurdly funny. Between poetry and punk, between verse and prose - this format thrives on precisely this unpredictability, and no two slams are the same.

The audience forms the jury and decides who wins with the volume of the applause. It's all about having fun and a love of language. Entertaining, varied and pointed.

The texts must be self-written, the time limit of seven minutes must not be exceeded and no technical aids such as instruments, tape recordings, props or similar may be used. Otherwise, the slam poets show all their skills to inspire the audience with their texts.

Antonia Prasser

Antonia Prasser has been filling page after page with ink and emotion for a long time - and ever since she won a Heinrich Böll Foundation competition with one of her poems, she has also occasionally spent six minutes on stage. Here, the psychologist prefers to deal with topics that are both private and political: Sustainability, motherhood, mental health... whereby her texts are always approachable and thought-provoking. She humorously dissects social ills with a fountain pen and honestly and strongly advocates turning sore points into commas. Spread between the lines like ink blots? Sharp-witted punchlines & a pinch of poetry.

The last Gerhard

The last Gerhard is on a desperate search for other Gerhards in the world. He desperately scours the stages of Freiburg and now the whole of southern Germany in the hope of finally coming across another Gerhard. With a certain self-irony and a lot of humor, he presents his crazy and always well thought-out ideas to the audience. In addition to poetry slams, he writes short stories, poems and fantasy books.

Philipp Stroh

Philipp Stroh grew up in the district of Lörrach and studied something to do with media in Offenburg, where he now lives and works. He has been performing regularly as a linguistic acrobat since 2015 and took part in the German-language Poetry Slam Championships for the first time in 2016. Whether poetry, prose or stand-up comedy - Philipp Stroh is like a box of chocolates.

Janina von Kleist

Janina von Kleist is an author who puts her experiences and thoughts into poems and stories.

As a person who likes to enjoy life, she writes about everyday events and sometimes deep philosophical thoughts in a way that is both self-deprecating and ironic. She also loves playing with language in word, rhyme and image. Janina juggles her words and sentences between humor and deep emotions.

She also works as an SEO and AI consultant in the district of Emmendingen under her real name Janina Ruth.
