Poetry Slam Prenzlau

Poetry slam - a format that emerged from dusty Berlin hipster bars in pre-pandemic times has long since arrived on Brandenburg's cultural stages! With significantly less craft beer and DJs, but with honest poetry and uproariously funny comedy, word artists from all over Germany compete against local up-and-coming talent.

Since 2019, the Kiezpoeten have been organizing the Poetry Slam Prenzlau in cooperation with the city library - open air in summer. The stage is open to everyone, and there have been many times when a successful Berlin championship candidate has had to admit defeat to a newcomer poet taking to the stage for the first time. The rules: 6 minutes, own texts, no costumes or props - there are no further restrictions for the speakers in terms of content or style.
