In her new piece Polaris, which continues the BIASED trilogy, Tanzwerke Vanek Preuß explores the topic of polarization through the seismograph of the body:
It is about the blinded human being - that is, about all of us - and the phenomenon that public life, language, values and manners now largely only take place in delimited communities that confirm themselves. Constructive controversy, lively debate and the diversity of both/and seem to be disappearing. On the other hand, an increased black-and-white thinking can be observed.
POLARIS uses the means of contemporary dance to examine how the current zeitgeist is reflected in our bodies. What constitutes flaring, impotent rage in a so-called multi-crisis? How does the constant exaggeration in the media with its hypes, fakes and tendency towards extreme emotionalization change bodies and souls? What are the effects of a loss of empathy combined with growing mass vulnerability?
