For 100 years, the chapter of German colonial rule has only seemingly come to an end. The colonial idea continued to be propagated by the German Colonial Society long after the end of the so-called Schutzherrschaft. It left its traces in Mannheim - for a long time undetected and trivialized.
The (post-)colonial city tour invites you to take a critical look at Mannheim's colonial past. The Völkerschau, colonial memorial and Mannheim's colonial actors will be the starting point for critical reflection on colonial continuities and current positions in dealing with the colonial legacy.
