Comedy by Nick Whitby / based on the film To Be or Not To Be by Ernst Lubitsch, screenplay by Edwin Justus Mayer and Melchior Lengyel

The ensemble of the Polski Theater in Warsaw rehearses an anti-fascist comedy in 1939. However, the performance is banned by the Polish government for fear of a conflict with the Hitler regime. Instead, a Hamlet production from the repertoire is added to the repertoire. However, this does not stop the troupe from using their theatrical strengths to put up resistance by sabotaging the Nazis' plans. A political satire that presents a totalitarian system with black humor and focuses on artistic means such as persiflage, irony, mockery and sarcasm as legitimate means of naming social grievances. A comedy that now more than ever deserves its place on the stage.
