PRINT & LIGHT NIGHT - Design meets 3D printing

An evening between design, drinks and light - at Studio Thorsten Gambalat in Düsseldorf.

In this special session, Thorsten Gambalat, product designer and artist from Düsseldorf,
how a real object is created from a simple idea.
He works with 3D printing, free forms and experimental materials - from clear
from clear, sculptural designs to organic, playful structures.
His works have been nominated for the Dezeen Award 2024, among others.

Print & Light Night is not about technology or teaching,
but about the shared experience: seeing, understanding and experiencing design.

You design your own small lighting object - a
a minimalist table lamp or a light object that is printed directly in the studio.
The 3D printing runs live on the high-quality Bambu Lab printers, the leading devices on the market.
While the machines build up the material layer by layer, conversations ensue,
music plays, drinks are served - and you can experience first-hand
how digital designs are transformed into real objects.

At the end of the evening, you take your own little lamp home with you - a
a design object created where design, technology and a good drink come together.

Thorsten Gambalat is a product designer and artist from Düsseldorf.
In his studio, he develops objects, furniture and small series between art, technology and material research.
He works with 3D printing, free forms and experimental materials - from clear, sculptural designs
from clear, sculptural designs to organic, playful structures.
His work has been nominated for the Dezeen Award 2024, among others.

His studio combines craftsmanship, digital fabrication and contemporary aesthetics.
In addition to his practical work, he has worked at design colleges and developed workshops
that provide insights into the creative process and practice of modern product design.

Inclusion & openness

The studio sees itself as an open and inclusive space in which diversity, respect and mutual appreciation are a matter of course.
People of all backgrounds - LGBTQIA+, BIPoC and Allies - are welcome.

The studio is currently not barrier-free and is only accessible via stairs.
However, we strive to find individual solutions to make participation possible.
