Duration of the exhibition: April 28 to May 24, 2026

April 26, 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the disaster at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The explosion of reactor 4 on April 26, 1986 is considered the worst accident in the history of the civilian use of nuclear energy. The abandoned town of Prypiat still symbolizes the dramatic consequences of this tragedy.

Ukrainian photo and video artist Alexander Syrota uses augmented reality to combine historical images with contemporary photographs. Visitors to the exhibition can visually switch between the past and present and impressively trace the development of Prypiat from a young, vibrant city to a nuclear-contaminated exclusion zone.
