After the great success of last year's resumption of the ProJazz Festival, ProJazz e.V. is pleased to once again open the doors of the domicil to all jazz enthusiasts. Under the title - The Celebration - we celebrate the wide range of the Dortmund jazz world together with you. This time, five formations will be playing the domicil in its entirety: The Harald Köster Trio+, Tinto and the herbe.quartett can be seen in the hall, while 100 Montaditos will rock the club during the changeover break and at the end. We are particularly pleased to be able to present jazz music to the bar audience with the newcomer band Work In Progress, which builds bridges to hip-hop and G-funk.

Apart from the music, Pro Jazz will also be presenting the life of the club to the Dortmund public on this wonderful day. Anyone who would like to gain an insight into the decisions and processes of the cultural volunteer work is expressly invited to talk to the members during the festival.

The herbe.quartett is the second incarnation of one of the most notorious jazz ensembles of the past decade. Initiated by Dortmund local hero Peter H. Köcke, the formation played acclaimed gigs in the hottest venues of the European Capital of Culture before the members moved on to other projects. After years of radio silence, the ensemble is fresher than ever; exquisitely cast with saxophone authority Orest Filipov, founding member and bass routinier Malte Winter and powerhouse Benny Hoffmann on drums. The four warhorses present groovy jazz beyond bebop and swing with echoes of Herbie Hancock and other well-known warhorses, spiced up with the hippest original compositions.

Our sound: Acid jazz, jazz funk and soul jazz - straight from the holy era of the late 60s and 70s, when everything still smelled of sweat, soul and Hammond.
Our role models are Grant Green, Dr. Lonnie Smith and John Scofield,
but we play the whole thing with the inspired "F*ck You" attitude of a Marc Ribot -
In other words: elegant, slightly pissed off and having a lot of fun. The perfect band to drink beer with!

"Work in Progress" is a jazz and hip-hop combo made up of young musicians from the NRW jazz scene. The band made its successful debut this year at the HÖMMA Festival in Oberhausen. "Work in Progress" combines arranged jazz standards with hip-hop beats and independently written lyrics.
