PROTEX, founded in Belfast in 78, were part of the first punk wave and are often mentioned in the same breath as #TheOutcasts, #TheUndertones and #Rudi. Their debut 7" "Don't Ring Me Up" was released in 1978 on the legendary #GoodVibrationsRecords, three more on #Polydor followed before the air was out - the band was dropped before the release of the first album and disbanded in 1981. In 2010, this unreleased debut was finally released on #SingSingRecords and original members Aidan Murtagh and David McMaster decided to re-form #PROTEX.
