A desperate search, a cold-blooded murder: In Protokoll eines Verschwindens, ZEIT crime reporter Alexander Rupflin transforms years of research, conversations with relatives and the perpetrator into a novel that combines documentary accuracy with literary intensity. Based on a real murder case, it tells of guilt, memory and the question of how to live with the incomprehensible.

Alexander Rupflin, born in 1991, lives in Hamburg. As a crime reporter, he writes for DIE ZEIT and the magazine ZEIT Verbrechen. He studied law at the University of Augsburg and has written and directed plays, some of which have won awards. He is also a co-founder of the Hermes Baby writers' agency, which is dedicated to literary reportage.
