WHAT IS IT ABOUT

A tragic comedy or a comic tragedy? Clearly both!

Harrison Birtwistle's opera is not for the faint-hearted. This crude and grotesque family tragedy captivates with its typically black British humor: a man throws his baby into a fire, stabs his wife Judy, searches for the beautiful Polly, whom he wants to marry, and commits more murders until he finally finds her. Birtwistle's music is highly original, witty, cheeky and demonstrates a sense of the bizarre and the abysmal - the work of a "young savage" of the British avant-garde at the time.

DISCOUNTS

Pupils and students receive tickets in advance with a 50% discount. They can also obtain unsold remaining tickets at the Box Office shortly before the start of the performance at 15 euros per ticket for all seats, provided there is no other demand.

Trainees, the unemployed, Frankfurt Pass holders and participants in the Federal Volunteer Service also receive tickets at a 50% discount - even in advance.
