In his music, Orient and Occident join hands, Arabic scales and meters as well as the rich ornamentation of the Orient meet classical forms and the freedom and mentality of jazz. Few have been able to mediate between musical cultures as forcefully as the Lebanese oud lute virtuoso Rabih Abou-Khalil. He is not only a storyteller with his oud - his announcements are legendary. They sound as if he were spicing up chapters from the Arabian Nights with contemporary cabaret punchlines.

After a long break, Rabih Abou-Khalil has now released The Flood and The Fate of The Fish, an album that should continue his success story - hardly anyone from the crossover area between jazz and world music has been able to realize as many units as this grandiose artist, who now lives in France after many years in Germany.

We look forward to accompanying this tireless wanderer between musical worlds on his trips from East to West and back again.
