Rachel Therrien is one of the most exciting and distinctive voices on the jazz scene today. Known for her emotionally charged sound and fearless improvisation, Therrien creates bold music in which contemporary jazz meets traditions of the African diaspora and fuses Afro-Caribbean and Latin American rhythmic forms into a powerful, modern language. She lives between New York City, Montreal and Havana, and her art is characterized by deep cultural roots - and a mission: to use jazz as a space for community, belonging and dialogue.
