RAGE AGAINST ABSCHIEBUNG #24

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

RAGE AGAINST ABSCHIEBUNG is the largest regular anti-racist festival in southern Germany, organized by the Bavarian Refugee Council. The proceeds and donations go directly to concrete refugee work.

This year's motto is:"Borderless through the night - No escape without reason".

RAGE AGAINST ABSCHIEBUNG is taking place in Munich for the 24th time this year.

The idea:

The idea for the first RAGE AGAINST ABSCHIEBUNG festival was born in 1996, when the Prager Straße asylum work group urgently needed money to intervene in the event of a dramatic deportation. The first Rage was therefore conceived as a one-off charity festival. In 1999, however, the Bavarian Refugee Council resurrected the festival and turned it into the largest regular anti-racist band festival in southern Germany.

Since then, we have regularly tried to bring the following topics to the public with our festival:

  • the European deportation machinery

  • Fortress Europe

  • the perfidious policy of isolation

  • the exclusion of refugees, migrants and illegalized persons

  • everyday racism

Of course, we also want to generate as much money as possible for our work. Solidarity with refugees is uncomfortable! Our work must therefore be as independent as possible. All of our guest bands therefore waive their fees and our helpers also work on a voluntary basis. The profit from the proceeds of the RAGE AGAINST ABSCHIEBUNG festivals has become an important financial basis for our work over the years.

The purpose:

At previous festivals, an average of around 700 paying guests ensured proceeds of around 5,000 euros each, which went directly to refugee work. In addition, political campaigns such as airport demonstrations, seminars on refugee issues and a march to Wolfratshausen (home of the former Minister President) usually take place around the festival. Through targeted press and public relations work, we can also draw attention to the work and issues of the Bavarian Refugee Council.

THE ACTS

ESELS ALPTRAUM

Anti-capitalist yodeling duo. "Yodeling sounds like Heimatkitsch & conservatism to many - not with us! As the 1st Anarchist Traditional and Folklore Association, we yodel against the shittiness of the system and for the good, beautiful, joyful life. The wrecking ball of folk music with accordion, ukulele and tender vocal power provides for collapsing walls and an uplifting atmosphere! Love Yodel - Hate Fascism!" (Source: band info)

VERETER

Finally out of the dusty corners of Viennese song: VERETER brings urgent change to the city with its stories from a queer-migrant perspective.
As a second-generation Viennese child, the singer-songwriter was confronted with stereotypical hostility at a very early age. The result is stories about penguins and toast sandwiches, fire salamanders and Topfeng'sichter, songs about holding hands in times of racism. The poetic songs develop a powerful pull and, despite their heaviness, create a feeling of self-empowerment.
It is catchy music that has emerged from the necessity that being a stranger does not only mean pain, but also the possibility of rebellion and solidarity.
Even a spark of hope and humor always resonates somewhere in VERETER's music - and it's hard to let go.
VERETER is the acoustic alter ego of the Viennese musician "Pete Prison IV". The songs were recorded both solo and with his backing band "Die Woarmen Semmeln". The debut album "Ihr Seit Alle" was released on March 21, 2025 on the queerfeminist Viennese label unrecords on vinyl in limited edition. (Source: band info)

FEHLER KUTI

FEHLER KUTI is the musical project of artist and curator Julian Warner. The name of the project, which is based on the Nigerian Afrobeat musician and political activist Fela Kuti, already indicates the thrust of Warner's idea, namely to bring music and politics together. At the same time, he is aware that this is no longer possible without interruption. Warner and his comrades-in-arms such as Markus Acher and other musicians from the Weilheim band "The Notwist" make productive use of the "error"-like aspect of this idea.
FEHLER KUTI are Theresa Loibl, Maasl Meier, Sachiko Hara, Sascha Schwegeler, Markus Acher, Micha Acher and Julian Warner. (Source: Bandinfo)

JACKSON POLLOCK

Garage punk explosion! JACKSON POLLOCK are just two people who formed a band, not because it was cool, but because they thought it was too bad.
Known for their fiery live shows, Emily sings and plays (or rather smashes!) her drums right in front of the audience with a very personal style you've never seen before, alternating between her sweet, melodic vocals that make hearts tremble and insane screams like she's possessed by the devil. Davide, the guitarist, fuels her fire with powerful and mesmerizing riffs created with homemade effects and old modified amps, creating an energetic and emotional mix.
Covering mile after mile, they spread their music from iconic stages like Fusion Festival in Germany or SXSW in Texas to more DIY-oriented, passionate realities and rave parties. In doing so, they convey the joy of playing with a carefree attitude, without preconceived schemes or classic recipes and references, enjoying the moment and the beauty of doing it together.
Their EP "Not Yesterday, Nor Tomorrow" was released by the Italian label Black Stuff. A preview of the full album "Today Forever", which will be released on October 3rd by German label Rookie Records, revealing the originality of a band going their own way and showing that behind the punk fury of the live sets there are some beautiful songs.

TRUST THE PROCESS

TRUST THE PROCESS is an instrumental hip-hop band from Munich that fuses funk and boom bap into a unique, dynamic sound.
The band consists of four musicians: Lukas Mönch on saxophone & synthesizer, Christoph Rössler on bass, Leonhard Martz on drums and Martin Prötzel on guitar. Together they form a well-rehearsed unit that thrives on collaboration and creativity. They have been on stage together since January 2024.
TRUST THE PROCESS is more than just a band - they are the heartbeat of freestyle and open-mic sessions that create spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet and exchange ideas. These sessions are driven by the guiding principle: It's all about community, peace, love, and unity.
With its events, the band wants to make skills, talents and critical voices visible and promote an environment in which artistic expression and encounters can flourish. Instead of charging entrance fees, voluntary donations are collected for the Refugio Kunstwerkstatt - an initiative that promotes creative work with refugee children and young people.
The process has already resulted in exciting collaborations and an independent stage program - including Munich artists such as "Waseem", "Martin Lando", "Stanzi Joy", "DoB", "Kokonelle", "Momo Novus", "Dichter", "ZiK" and "Magia".
Together, the instrumentalists and vocalists form the TRUST THE PROCESS collective. (Source: Organizer)
