Rainer Bauer "Wider jede Geometrie – Landschaften"

In the organizer's words:

Rainer Bauer, born in Unna in 1962, works in his often large-format paintings with structures relating to water, wind, areas of plants and other natural processes such as erosion.

He does not follow a strict concept of pictorial space in the painting process. He uses different approaches in his work. For example, he follows an intuitive tracing and taking up of natural forms, a rhythmization of the picture surface and a calculated picture architecture. In the process, this develops artistically into fragmentary natural forms.

The resulting illusions of vegetation and other natural phenomena are not tied to specific locations. Looking at his works, people may well be reminded of certain landscapes or discover landscapes of the soul in them, which makes seeing them exciting and is intentional.

Vernissage on January 30, 2026 at 19:30 with a thematic introduction by art historian Dr. Dirk Tölke.
