Weird stories from legislation, case law and administration
A warm welcome to Ralf Sikorski and to you.
Welcome to a satirical ramble through the everyday madness of our legal system, about the unbearable language of laws, the complicated language used in and appropriate behavior in court and, of course, about the meaningfulness of some disputes in court.
Loriot, one of the greatest humorists of all time, got his best ideas by simply watching people in their everyday lives. A married couple at breakfast, a couple buying beds or a family on Christmas Eve - you can't make something like that up.
And it's the same with the anecdotes I want to tell you. As a passionate collector of style blooms and inspired by the Germans' legendary mania for regulation, I have combed through the flood of laws, ordinances, administrative directives and judgments in search of curiosities. We try to regulate everything that can be regulated by law; nobody can count the number of laws we have. The vast number of administrative instructions on the interpretation of laws inevitably leads to a flood of legal disputes in the courts. This is because the Germans' willingness to sue is unsurpassed. And if a law is not in the interests of the lawmakers and is criticized by the court, the law is changed again. This is how the system feeds itself.
About Ralf Sikorski
Ralf Sikorski was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in North Rhine-Westphalia for many years, specializing in value added tax and the tax code, and was subsequently head of the tax audit department at a tax office. He also lectured on courses for tax consultants and accountants, and today he is still active in numerous training events, including the so-called accountant updates. In addition, he has made a name for himself as the author of countless tax textbooks and practical books, particularly on the above-mentioned specialist areas, and as the editor of a commentary on the German Fiscal Code. His collections of style books "Meine Frau ist eine außergewöhnliche Belastung", "Wo bitte kann ich meinen Mann absetzen", "Ich war Hals über Kopf erleichtert" and most recently "Im Namen des Volkes" as well as the fairytale book "Von Steuereyntreibern und anderen Blutsaugern" round off his diverse range of activities.
