The nine musicians around bandleader Rebecca Trescher have been playing together in this constellation since 2019 and have performed on countless stages in Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland, including at Jazzfest Bonn, Jazzahead, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Unterfahrt Munich and Porgy & Bess in Vienna. In 2022, the Rebecca Trescher Tentett won the New German Jazz Prize in Mannheim. In the same year, Rebecca Trescher herself received the German Jazz Award for "Composition of the Year 2022" and was voted "Rising Star Clarinet" in the critics' poll of the renowned "Downbeat Magazine".
Rebecca Trescher's compositions are characterized by a special combination of jazz and contemporary music and are often inspired by nature. The busy composer, who also performs solo, as a duo and with her quartet, deliberately takes her improvising large ensemble beyond existing genres. The special thing about this "symphonic body of sound", as Rebecca Trescher herself calls it, is that each musician can constantly slip into new roles. At times they are melody players or movement players, then they are part of a harmonic element or a rhythmic ostinato. The extraordinary sound structures that the tentet creates in its concerts constantly open up new horizons.
