Reading from Laurette Fekl's new book "Auf der Suche nach dem verlorenen Vater": An Armenian-French prisoner of war as a father, a traumatized mother, a childhood in institutions. In Search of the Lost Father tells the story of a woman whose life is marked by the ruptures of the 20th century. Based on a personal search for clues, Laurette Fekl combines biographical memories with historical research and literary condensation. The result is a multi-layered narrative about origins, political awareness and the long shadows of the Armenian genocide, war, National Socialism and German division, about the question of how identity is created where memory remains fragile.
